Hamim Hussain Wins Abrahamic Foundation Sponsorship

True to the commitments of the Abrahamic Foundation to promote youth work and provisions, to champion youth achievement in education, sports and community work it is delighted to announce partial sponsorship of English Under 14s Snooker Champion, Hamim Hussain.

Hamim Hussain, a budding star from Birmingham, West Midlands, who beat Ben Murphy’s nephew of 2005 World Champion Shaun Murphy to win the title. Both Hamim and Ben qualified from the last-16 knockout at the Northern Snooker Centre, Leeds.
Hamim dispatched Jamie Wilson (Portsmouth), Kayden Brierley (Manchester) and Riley Parsons (Cannock) – who the following day reached the Under-16 final – all with 4-1 scorelines.

Hussain, who has knocked in more than 20 centuries in practice and is currently eighth on the English Association of Snooker and Billiards (EASB) Regional Junior Tour Midlands, returned to his home club – the Golden Cue in Bilston – and won an adult handicap tournament the day after his exploits in Leeds.

Hamim is a rising star of the West Midlands snooker circuit, who is regularly achieving good results above his age group, which bodes well for his future career. He has totaled about £600 in prize money since the start of his playing career.

Highlights include:
•    Made 9 centuries in practise at the age of 9, of which the highest was 126. Has now made more than 20 centuries in practise
•    Played in adult league snooker for The Ballroom club in Sutton Coldfield until it closed. Now plays at the Golden Cue Snooker Club in Bilston, where the committee has selected him to play an exhibition frame against top professional player, Ricky Walden – currently No 9 in the World - at a special snooker celebration day on 6/6/2014. Hamim will also receive his runner-up trophy for the West Midlands Under 14 Championships, 2014.
•    Competed in the UK’s biggest tournament – the Pontin’s Under 21 Championships – where he won a trophy for the best performance, aged only 10 years old. This award was judged by acknowledged professional referee, John Williams
•    At the age of 11 he competed in the European Under 19 Championships held at the Gloucester Academy, and qualified
•    Has won many Under 16 tournaments in Sutton Coldfield, aged between 9 and 12 years old
•    Is the veteran of a number of media appearances, having been on TV following his Pontin’s performance, and featured in local, national and international newspapers
•    Has featured in several adult tournaments, where he has either won, or at least reached the final
•    Also qualified for the West Midlands Under 14 Championships, and played the semi-finals in March, where he beat his brother – Halim – and progressed to the finals
•    Is a regular competitor this season (2014) in EASB under 20 tournaments. To date, he has completed two out of the six tournaments, and has qualified for the finals both times, and has now been ranked as the top No.1 seed. He has competed for three seasons in EASB tournaments

Hamim Due to Represent England in Malta
Hamim’s achievement has earned him selection to represent England and the EASB in the 2015 European under 17 Snooker Open Championship tournaments to be held in Bugibba, Malta.
